Twitter update shows users if they were shadowbanned
Musk has announced a developing update for Twitter.
Twitter owner Elon Musk announced on Friday that the company has been working on a software update which enables users to know if they've been shadowbanned.
"Twitter is working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you've been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal," Musk said on Twitter.
Musk also noted that Twitter will soon begin "freeing the name space of 1.5 billion accounts," adding that the tweets would show "view count in a few weeks" similar to how it's already done for videos posted on the social network.
Last month, Musk said that Twitter's monthly user count could pass the 1 billion milestone within a year and a half. He published an infographic claiming that new user sign-ups were at an all-time high after he took over Twitter a month ago.
Sign-ups were allegedly averaging over 2 million per day in the week ending on November 16, which is, as per Musk's estimates, 66% more than recorded in the same week in 2021.
Musk admitted last week that Twitter "interfered in elections" through its content moderation procedures, saying that Twitter had "failed in trust and safety for a very long time and has intervened in elections."
He also promised to share internal information in order to rebuild public trust in the corporation.
