Venezuela launches new social app
The Ven App social network was announced by the President on Friday.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has declared the launch of the social network Ven App.
During a special event in Caracas, Maduro announced, "Today [Friday] the Venapp application is born for the world, it will have something called line 58, which can be used by any citizen."
He elaborated that "line 58" would be a channel that receives social complaints.
According to the President, the Ven App social network, which was founded by a group of Venezuelan businessmen, would function similarly to other social applications, including a chat service, channels, and file sharing.
Maduro asked Venezuelans to join the new social network in April, declaring that it would be more popular than Facebook and Instagram.
