Ex-US official: Trump may push Gaza ceasefire deal while Netanyahu fears prosecution
Former US Defense official Michael (Mick) Mulroy told Al Mayadeen that the question that should be posed is "how much pressure [the Trump administration is] willing to put on Prime Minister Netanyahu that would overcome his reluctance" to reach a ceasefire in Gaza that would include the release of prisoners and captives and a surge in humanitarian aid. Mulroy further added that Netanyahu’s bullheadedness may be rooted in fears that ending the war on Gaza could trigger the collapse of his government or expose him to prosecution. "If Prime Minister Netanyahu didn't get some kind of amnesty really does go to the point that many have been making that Prime Minister Netanyahu doesn't want to end the war because he's concerned... his government will collapse... or he'll be elected out of office. And he's concerned about facing... these criminal and civil charges."
