The West is still struggling to understand that sanctions bear no effect on Russia as the latter's economy continues to grow despite the stifling measures imposed on it by dozens of countries. It even seems that European economies themselves are struggling to deal with the aftermath of the sanctions. This really begs the question, though; why is the United States pushing the EU to impose these sanctions on Russia knowing full well the repercussions they bear on the bloc? It's probably just because it's such a "great ally".
