Iraq’s special voting: 1.3 mln+ security forces, 26,000+ internally displaced cast votes
Special voting for Iraq’s 2025 parliamentary elections began on Sunday, November 9, with a strong turnout. According to the Independent High Electoral Commission, more than 1.3 million military voters are participating across 89 polling centers, while over 26,000 internally displaced voters are voting in 27 centers. The Commission confirmed that all polling stations and electronic verification systems opened on time at 7 AM and are functioning normally. More than 1,000 international observers have been accredited to monitor the process, as well as local monitors. The special voting results will be released alongside the general vote within 24 hours after Tuesday’s election concludes.
