Mourners gather as Sayyed Hashem is laid to rest in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, South Lebanon

Lebanese and foreign mourners have gathered in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, South Lebanon, for the funeral of martyr Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah elected shortly after Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, as he is laid to rest in a specially built mausoleum in his hometown, fulfilling his final wish. The funeral began at 12:30 PM local time at the Martyrs' Husseiniyah, where Hezbollah and the martyr’s family received condolences, Al Mayadeen's correspondent Jamal Ghourabi reported. At 3:00 PM, the procession will move toward his burial site. According to our correspondent, despite the risks to his life, Sayyed Hashem remained deeply connected to the people, personally engaging with them and responding to their concerns.
