Iran's Sirik nuclear powerplant to fully operate by 2041
The 5,000-megawatt plant is set to be part of a greater project.
In 18 years, the Iranian Sirik nuclear powerplant will be fully operational, Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said.
In early February, Iran began construction of a nuclear power plant in the southern province of Hormozgan, reportedly worth 15 billion dollars in investments, coining it a "super project".
The project, Iran-Hormoz, was announced in a video call by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, as part of his administration's tour of the southern province.
Eslami revealed that phase one of construction is underway, while the necessary research for the development of the project has been completed.

The Big Picture
The super project, initially designed to encompass 5,000 megawatts of power, will transcend into a more extensive plan to develop the Makran coastal region.
Raisi described the power plant as a "significant undertaking" that forms a foundation of economic and general national development. In his statement, he gave tribute to the efforts of the teams responsible for fulfillment and hoped the project would stimulate growth and prosperity among the masses.
The Iranian president affirmed that the Hormoz plant complies with the Makran coast development plan. Iran's nuclear chief also said, “By the year 2041, we should reach the generation capacity of 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity in the country, and the realization of this goal has been taken into consideration in the Makran coast of Hormozgan Province.”
