Russian-Chinese statement: We stand against any external interference
Moscow and Beijing vow to increase cooperation against the foreign interference of western states and their "color revolutions."
In a joint statement on Friday, Russia and China urged the United States to abandon plans to deploy medium and short-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
During Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing, both leaders expressed their concern about the US plans to develop the global missile defense system and deploy its elements in different regions of the world.
'Washington should accelerate the elimination of its stockpiles of chemical weapons'
According to the statement, Moscow and Beijing "insist that the United States, as the sole State Party to the Convention that has not yet completed the process of eliminating chemical weapons, accelerate the elimination of its stockpiles of chemical weapons."
The statement expressed Russia and China's determination to strengthen the role of (ASEAN) as an essential component of the regional structure.
Concerns about AUKUS
The joint statement also expressed concern about the AUKUS alliance, because it could "increase the risk of an arms race in the region and create the risks of proliferation of nuclear weapons," according to the joint statement.
It stated that the AUKUS defense alliance, which includes Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, was "seriously concerning," particularly since their cooperation centers on nuclear submarines.
"Russia and China believe that such actions are contrary to the tasks of ensuring the security and sustainable development" of the Asia-Pacific region and "increase the danger of the start of an arms race".
The AUKUS collaboration, which was launched in September and prompted outrage in Beijing, will see Canberra buy nuclear-powered submarines using US technology.
Also on Friday, the two countries signed strategic agreements, including energy deals.
Russia and China stand against interfering external forces
The joint statement mentioned that "Russia and China stand against attempts by external forces to undermine security and stability in their common adjacent regions, intend to counter interference by outside forces in the internal affairs of sovereign countries under any pretext, oppose color revolutions, and will increase cooperation in the aforementioned areas."
The "color revolutions" term, which was most recently used to denounce the uprising in Kazakhstan, carries the implication that the US machinations are responsible for movements in each country's neighborhood.
Moscow: Taiwan is an inalienable part of China
For its part, the Russian side reaffirms its support for the "One-China principle, confirms that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and opposes any forms of independence of Taiwan."
