Death toll in Brazil floods, landslides reaches nearly 60
Sao Paolo authorities estimate that over 760 people were left homeless due to the destructive floods and landslides.
Brazilian sources reported on Sunday that the death toll in Brazil's destructive floods and landslides has almost reached 60 in the state of Sao Paolo.
Just one day ago, Brazil's G1 news portal said that the death toll had reached 59, with 53 of the fatalities registered in the municipality of Sao Sebastiao alone.
With over 150 people involved in rescue operations, evacuations and the search for victims have been underway for the past seven days.
Sao Paolo authorities estimate that over 760 people were left homeless due to the destructive floods and landslides.
About 1,730 people were evacuated from the affected areas.

The Governor of Sao Paolo, Tarcisio Gomes de Freitas, declared a state of emergency in several municipalities across the governorate.
