1 dead, 5 injured in car crash into Austin Medical Center
The person deceased is the driver, however, it remains unclear whether or not his death was a direct result of the accident.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services revealed that a car crash into St. David's North Austin Medical Center ER resulted in the injury of five people and the death of another.
They posted on Facebook yesterday, "Initial triage and treatments underway. #ATCEMS Command reporting 10 patients for transport and 1 adult patient with CPR in progress. Avoid the area."
Austin Police confirmed that this incident does not seem to be intentional, "There is no threat to the general public. Based off preliminary information and details gathered at this time, this incident does not appear to be an intentional act," adding "APD officers continue to assist our first responder partners, and the investigation is ongoing."
Austin Police Department Detective Lt. Carey Chaudoir informed the Austin American-Statesman newspaper that the deceased person was the driver, however it remains unclear whether or not his death was a direct result of the accident.
The ATCEMS stated in a different post, "6 total patients from that incident were ultimately identified. 1 deceased on-scene, 4 transported by #ATCEMS, & 1 treated in the emergency department on-site," adding that out of those injured, there is a child with critical injuries another adult with potentially life-threatening injuries and another adult and child with mild injuries.
