At least 29 dead in Turkey nightclub fire, five arrest warrants issued
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc says that specialists are still working to identify the cause behind the fire.
At least 29 individuals were killed and eight others were injured in a fire that erupted in a nightclub located at the base of a 16-story building in Istanbul's Besiktas district, Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported on Tuesday.
Firefighters, medical and police teams were dispatched to the building located on Gundogdu Street in Gayrettepe Yildiz Posta Avenue in central Istanbul on the European side of the city.
Istanbul governor Davut Gul said that the cause of the fire remains unknown, but confirmed that all the victims were construction workers.

"May God have mercy on our citizens who lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery to our injured," Gul said on X.
The fire started during renovations at the site, state media agency Anadolu reported.
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc revealed in a post on X that arrest warrants were issued for five people, including three managers in the club and one resposible for the renovations.
“The site inspection and evidence collection efforts are ongoing, and a team of 3 experts specializing in occupational safety and fire is also continuing their work to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.
