Eight-story collapses in Egypt killing 2 people, including a baby
The collapsed building is in the city of Rashid, and nearby residents have been moved to social housing units.
Two people have reportedly died, and nine were injured today, after an eight-story building collapsed in the city of Rashid district of Beheira, in the Egyptian Nile Delta.
The Rashid General Hospital received the injured for medical treatment.
The victims were a nine-month-old baby and a 38-year-old man, Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reported.
It is worth noting that rescuers are still looking for people under the rubble of the building.
To protect the safety of nearby residents and clear the area of rubble, the governorate evacuated seven buildings that were close to the collapsed unit. They will temporarily occupy social homes for their inhabitants.
Despite being in good structural condition, a nearby building was harmed by the fall, the governorate noted.
Last week, three people were found dead by rescue workers in Alexandria, Egypt after a 13-story building collapsed.
The site of the tower is located in the Sidi Bishr district, where holidaymakers frequently rent apartments on special occasions.
