Heinz wants to buy boat for man who survived at sea eating Ketchup
The sailor told authorities that currents swept him away from St. Martin island as he was doing maintenance work to his sailboat in December.
Ketchup company Kraft Heinz is reportedly looking for the man who survived off ketchup for 24 days while stranded at sea to offer him a boat, AP reported on Sunday.
47-year-old Elvis Francois got lost in the Caribbean sea last month and managed to survive on his sailboat while surviving off ketchup, cubes of seasoning and garlic powder, AP reports.
The Colombian navy found him and rescued him as he was located about 120 nautical miles from the La Guajira peninsula in January.
The sailor told authorities that currents swept him away from St. Martin island as he was doing maintenance work on his sailboat in December.
After learning this story, Heinz started a campaign to locate the sailor so that they can help him buy a new boat.
"We need your help tracking down an amazing man with an amazing story,” Heinz said in a post. "We’re setting this message adrift into the sea of the internet, because if anyone can help us find him, it’s you."
