Indian Police Charge Amazon Executives in Marijuana Smuggling Case
Indian police have pressed charges against senior Amazon executives for their discrepancy in answers regarding the smuggling of 1,000 kg of marijuana into India.

Following the summoning of Amazon executives after finding out that smugglers have used Amazon India to smuggle 1,000 kilograms of Marijuana into the country under the guise of dry stevia leaves, Indian police have finally pressed charges following their investigation.
On Saturday, Indian police announced that they have charged Amazon India's senior executives, under narcotics laws, in the case of smuggling marijuana through the Company. However, there is no mention of how many executives were charged.
In a statement, Indian police said the senior executives of Amazon have been charged under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act due to a discrepancy in what they were telling the police and what the company's documents revealed about the case.
On November 14, Indian police arrested two men who were caught red-handed smuggling 20 kg of marijuana. Looking into the situation, they realized that the perpetrators have been doing so through Amazon and distributing it to other states.
In a police statement, it was reported that the marijuana smuggled was worth $148,000.
The next day, a senior police official said that Amazon officials were summoned and asked to provide information about how the drug has been entering the country and how Amazon allows its sale.
