Medical transport plane crash in Nevada leaves five people dead
The victims include the pilot, a nurse, a paramedic, the patient, and a relative of the patient's family.
REMSA Health said in a statement on Saturday that a medical transport plane carrying five people, including the patient, crashed in the western US state of Nevada.
"We are heartbroken to report that we have now received confirmation from Central Lyon County Fire Department that none of the five people on board survived," the statement said.
The statement further says that the plane went off radar on Friday night during a major winter storm near Nevada's border with California, next to the town of Stagecoach.
The victims include the pilot, a nurse, a paramedic, the patient, and a relative of the patient's family.
Authorities are reportedly investigating the site of the wreckage and looking for the causes of the crash.
According to the PowerOutage.us tracker, the storm had resulted in nearly 100,000 customers in California going off power on Saturday evening.
Some major roads were also closed as a result of the ice and snow, including sections of Interstate 5.
