The terminal serves domestic flights only.
The roof of a recently renovated terminal building at New Delhi's international airport partially collapsed early Friday due to heavy rains, resulting in one fatality and eight injuries, according to rescuers.
Images shared online depicted vehicles crushed by large steel beams at the departure area of Terminal 1, a project inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March ahead of the upcoming general election.

The terminal serves domestic flights only, and airport authorities announced that all flights from this terminal were canceled until early afternoon.
"Due to heavy rain since early this morning, a portion of the canopy... collapsed around 5 am," they said in a statement posted online.
"Emergency personnel are working to provide all necessary assistance and medical aid to those affected," they added.
Other terminals, as well as arrivals at Terminal 1, continued to operate normally, as per the statement.
"Eight people have been injured, one person is dead. Rescue operations have been completed," Atul Gard, director of Delhi Fire Services said, as quoted by AFP.
It is worth noting that New Delhi has experienced heavy rains in recent days due to the annual monsoon reaching the Indian capital.
