Six stabbed to death in Chinese kindergarten
The perpetrator walked into a Chinese kindergarten and stabbed six victims to death.
Six people were stabbed to death and another was injured in a kindergarten stabbing in southern China on Monday, Chinese media reported.
The 25-year-old suspect was detained and apparently had known motives.
The attack took place in Lianjiang County, Guangdong Province.
Although police are still trying to identify the victims, witnesses say they include a teacher, two parents, and three children.
According to unconfirmed social media reports, the assailant was seeking "revenge" because one of the adults had hit his child with a car and refused to compensate him.
In recent years, China has witnessed a surge in stabbing attacks on kindergartens and schools. A man armed with a knife killed two children and injured 16 others at a kindergarten in southern Guangxi Province in 2021.
A similar incident occurred in 2022, leaving three people dead and six injured.
In another incident this year, there was an attack on a kindergarten in Brazil. A man armed with a hatchet forced his way into a kindergarten in the city of Blumenau in southern Brazil and killed three boys and a girl.
