The number of fatalities in Sudan due to the ongoing heavy rains and flooding has increased to 132, according to a report from the country's Health Ministry on Monday.
In early August, Sudanese authorities had reported that 68 people had died as a result of the natural disaster. The victims were said to have lost their lives in various incidents, including building collapses and drowning.
"The death toll reached 132," the Sudanese Health Ministry said in a statement.

Heavy rains have affected 10 regions in Sudan, with the Northern State and River Nile State being the hardest hit, according to authorities.
UN agencies estimate that over 317,000 people across the country have been affected. The floods have caused significant displacement, with approximately 118,000 people forced to leave their homes.
The ongoing torrential rains have led to the complete destruction of over 12,400 houses, as reported by the Health Ministry.
