Three Killed, 14 injured in shooting in US city of Chattanooga: Police
In another shooting this weekend, the US city of Chattanooga was shaken by an unprecedented shooting spree that has been plaguing several American states.
Three people were killed and 14 others were injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Sunday, according to local Police Chief Celeste Murphy, with three additional people being struck by vehicles.
"At this time, we can confirm 14 gunshot victims and three victims that were struck by vehicles that were attempting to flee the scene. Three fatalities have been confirmed," Murphy told reporters.
According to the police chief, two of those slain were shot, while the third was hit by a car. Details of the incident are currently being established.
Murphy stated that the law enforcement officials think the shooting was an isolated act that poses no threat to public safety.
The shooting occurred just hours after three people were killed and 11 others were injured in similar circumstances in the US city of Philadelphia when armed men opened fire on a crowd.
During a national address on Friday, US President Joe Biden urged Congress to take quick action to establish new gun control laws that might help stop the country's trend of mass shootings.
Biden's remarks came a day after a shooting in Tulsa and Oklahoma on May 24, a school tragedy in Texas, and a mass shooting in Buffalo on May 14.
