Two people injured in Texas Church shooting, shooter killed

Fox News reported on Monday that two people, including a child, were injured in a shooting at an evangelical church in Texas, and the shooter was killed.

A woman accompanied by a small child, approximately 4 to 5 years old, armed with a long rifle, entered Lakewood Church in Houston and opened fire. 

Police officers killed the woman on the scene, the report said, adding that the child was in critical condition. She threatened that she had a bomb, however, police officers did not find traces of any explosives.

Lakewood ChuÙ‚ch posted on X that there was an active shooter situation that included shots being fired and that law enforcement was arriving on the scene. 

There is an active situation involving shots fired at Lakewood. Law enforcement is on the scene.
That is all the information we have at this time. Please pray for Lakewood and our community.

Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement, "Our hearts are with those impacted by today's tragic shooting and the entire Lakewood Church community in Houston."

I have spoken with Mayor Whitmire and offered the full support of Texas to bring this criminal to justice.

Abbott said he offered "full support and resources of the State of Texas" to the mayor of Houston "to help this community and help bring swift justice to the criminal who committed this crime".
