Two people injured in Texas Church shooting, shooter killed

Fox News reported on Monday that two people, including a child, were injured in a shooting at an evangelical church in Texas, and the shooter was killed.

A woman accompanied by a small child, approximately 4 to 5 years old, armed with a long rifle, entered Lakewood Church in Houston and opened fire. 

Police officers killed the woman on the scene, the report said, adding that the child was in critical condition. She threatened that she had a bomb, however, police officers did not find traces of any explosives.

Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement, "Our hearts are with those impacted by today's tragic shooting and the entire Lakewood Church community in Houston."

Abbott said he offered "full support and resources of the State of Texas" to the mayor of Houston "to help this community and help bring swift justice to the criminal who committed this crime".
