'Israel' 'formidable obstacle' to Muslim countries' cooperation: Iran
A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry diplomat says at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit that the world must take "decisive" action to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The Director General for International Peace and Security at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Asadullah Eshragh Jahromi declared that the Israeli occupation regime is the principal impediment to stability and sustainable development in the Muslim world and West Asia.

Speaking at the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Yaounde, Cameroon, on Friday, Jahromi said that the destabilizing actions and "policies of the [Israeli] regime are a formidable obstacle to cooperation among Muslim countries as well as regional economic convergence among OIC member states."
He expressed grave concern over the ongoing "Israeli atrocities against the oppressed Palestinians in Gaza" and condemned the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last month.

Jahromi urged the international community and the OIC to take "decisive action to halt Israeli war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide," whether in occupied Palestine or other places in the region.
The Iranian diplomat also stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of insecurity and tensions in the West Asia region.
Iran's new administration committed to increasing cooperation
In his remarks, he highlighted Iran’s strategic geopolitical position and the new administration’s commitment to increasing regional convergence, cooperation, and communication, as well as enhancing ties with neighboring countries.
Jahromi underscored the country's potential commercial ports, extensive rail network, and high transit capacity to connect with the organization's member states.

Furthermore, he criticized the imposition of unilateral economic sanctions on Iran as a violation of international law that disrupts economic stability and hinders development and access to resources.
He finally reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to expanding economic cooperation with OIC member states and collaborating with Muslim countries to advance shared principles and interests.
On Thursday, marking day 328 of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza reported that the total number of Palestinians killed since the Israeli war started on October 7 has risen to 40,602, and those injured to 93,855.
In its 15th summit last May, the OIC condemned the Israeli occupation's genocide in the Gaza Strip, calling for the imposition of sanctions on the Israeli regime.
The Islamic organization also called for an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire.
The bloc's Secretary General, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, called on member states at the time to "intensify efforts and solidarity in support of the Palestinian cause."
