Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported that the Israeli airstrikes have persisted and intensified, most notably in Khan Younis in the southern part of the Strip, over the past 24 hours, particularly gaining intensity during the night.

Early this morning, Israeli warplanes carried out incendiary raids in the Faiyad neighborhood, extending to the northeastern areas of the town of Al-Qarara in Khan Younis, as per our correspondent.

Our correspondent also confirmed that Israeli naval vessels intensified their shelling of the coast of Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah in the south, and the central Gaza Strip.

Concurrently, sources informed Al Mayadeen that Israeli warships shelled the western part of Khan Yunis, and its tanks are targeting its eastern areas with aerial bombardment.

Fears of a new Nakba

These airstrikes have led to the martyrdom of several Palestinians, with reports indicating that dozens are still trapped under the rubble.

This is happening as the head of the UN's Palestine relief agency, UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, cautioned, on Friday, that a renewed Israeli military aggression in the densely populated southern region of Gaza could force a significant number of the 1 million refugees, including 900,000 taking refuge in UN buildings, to cross the border into Egypt.

The intense bombardment of the southern part of Gaza has sparked concerns and fears of a new Nakba, especially as Palestinians were forced to cross from the north of the Strip towards the South, which "Israel" alleged would be "safer".

In Gaza, nowhere is safe, according to images, videos, and interviews emerging from the Strip where the Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestinians is being live-streamed.

The number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip, since Friday morning, has risen to at least 178 people, while 589 others have been injured, most of whom are women and children, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

On his part, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qudra, said that the occupation committed another massacre, just after the the humanitarian truce expired. Among those martyred on Friday are Anadolu Agency photographer Montaser al-Sawwaf, and Al-Aqsa TV photographer Abdullah Darwish. As a result, the number of journalist martyrs has risen to 72, in the Gaza Strip alone, since October 7.
