Yair Golan, head of the Israeli opposition party Democrats, issued a fierce condemnation of the ongoing war on Gaza, accusing "Israel" of committing atrocities against civilians and warning that the entity could risk international isolation.
In an interview with the Kan public broadcaster, Golan stated that "Israel" is "killing children in Gaza as a hobby," sharply criticizing the current occupation government's conduct.
"Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa was, if we don’t return to acting like a sane country," said Golan, emphasizing that a "rational and moral state" would not engage in attacks on civilians.
"A sane country does not fight against civilians, does not kill children as a hobby, and does not give itself the aim of expelling populations," he said during the interview.
The left-wing politician also lashed out at the Israeli government, describing its leadership as unfit and dangerous. "This government is full of vengeful types with no morals and no ability to run a country in a time of crisis. This endangers our existence," Golan said.
The remarks come as domestic and international criticism mounts over "Israel's" conduct in the war on Gaza, particularly regarding the high civilian death toll and destruction of infrastructure.
Golan’s comments reflect growing dissent within Israeli political circles about the long-term consequences of the ground and aerial assault on the besieged enclave.
Netanyahu: We are going to take over all of Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that pressure on "Israel" was “approaching a red line,” necessitating the resumption of aid into Gaza to press ahead with its ground assault.
“[US] Senators I know as supporters of Israel… come to me and say, ‘We’ll give you all the help you need to win the war… but we can’t be receiving pictures of famine [in Gaza],” Netanyahu said in a video released on his personal Telegram channel.
The Israeli occupation announced that "minimal aid" must be distributed in the Strip to prevent mass starvation among the civilian population.
“In order to complete our victory, to defeat Hamas and free the hostages, we cannot reach a point of famine,” he says, directing his talk to settlers who are opposing his decision to resume the humanitarian aid, which has been cut off since early March. “They won’t support us.”
However, Netanyahu did threaten that "Israel is going to take over all of Gaza, that’s what we are going to do.”
