'Israel' is years away from defeating Hamas in Gaza: Israeli Res Gen
Reserve General Tal Rousso tells Israeli Kan News channel that Hamas "Israel" can't afford to deploy its entire military force in Gaza.
What happened in the Gaza envelope on October 7 last year is "Israel's" greatest failure, Reserve General Tal Rousso said on Friday referring to the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, as the invasion of the besieged Strip nears its one-year mark next month.
Talking to the Kan 11 News channel, Rousso stated the "entire leadership responsible for the events of October 7 and those connected to it, even prior leaders, must recognize that their roles have come to an end," and called for a new generation of leaders to step in.
Regarding the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas, Rousso acknowledged that the group has neither been defeated nor "eliminated" in its current state.
He warned that if the current pace of fighting continues, it could take "five years to defeat Hamas in Gaza, prolonging Israel's military engagement in the region."

However, Rousso pointed out that "Israel" cannot afford to deploy its entire military force in Gaza, as there are already three divisions stationed there.
The reserve general also sounded the alarm on "Israel's" situation on other fronts.
Rousso highlighted that Tel Aviv is neglecting the "northern front (with Hezbollah) and Iran," stating that "Israel" has essentially "lost control of the north and is engaged in a war of attrition" on both southern and northern fronts.
Israeli Channel 12 reported on Thursday that the "Israeli policy in the north is one of remission rather than containment," clarifying that the Israeli occupation government allows Hezbollah to do whatever it wishes.
The Margaliot mayor, Eitan Davidi, told the channel's reporter that the settlement is completely empty and has been abandoned for 11 months.
"Over the past 11 months, we have forgotten the prime minister, because he has done nothing to alter the equation or change reality, while we're spread from the north to the south and everywhere else, without any expectations to go back to Margaliot or Kiryat Shmona," Davidi said.
"This weak and incompetent government," he added, "has forgotten the North."
