The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that “Israel” has received the bodies of two soldiers who were held in the Gaza Strip.
Since the ceasefire agreement took effect in the war-torn blockaded strip, the Palestinian Resistance has handed over the remains of 16 captives, most of them Israeli, along with 20 captives alive, according to official reports.
Meanwhile, the number of martyred prisoners and detainees whose identities have been documented since the beginning of the Israeli genocide in Gaza has risen to 80, including at least 47 from Gaza, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said. The group also reported that the Israeli occupation continues to withhold the bodies of 88 martyrs from the Palestinian prisoners’ movement.
Ongoing violations of Trump-brokered ceasefire
Despite the ceasefire agreement approved by the Israeli occupation government on October 10, based on a proposal from US President Donald Trump, Israeli forces have continued to violate the deal with near-daily attacks on the Gaza Strip.
These assaults have resulted in new casualties and injuries, further undermining the fragile truce. Palestinian officials have condemned the continued violations, accusing “Israel” of attempting to destabilize the agreement and hinder humanitarian efforts.
Two soldiers killed in southern Gaza
Two Israeli soldiers were killed on Sunday in the southern Gaza Strip, the occupation’s military confirmed. The two soldiers were identified as a Major and a Staff Sergeant, both members of units operating in the south.
The Israeli occupation forces also reported that a reserve soldier from the Gaza Brigade’s combat engineering heavy equipment unit was severely injured during the incident. He was evacuated from the field for medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
The operation comes amid increasing friction and violations of the ceasefire in various areas of the Gaza Strip, particularly in the south, where occupation forces continue field activities.
