Ex-IOF chief: Biden insinuates 'Israel' on its own in war with Lebanon
The former head of operations in the Israeli occupation army says Biden signaled to "Israel" that it will not receive American support "as it did on April 14."
"Israel" will have to fight alone if it gets involved in any war with Lebanon or Iran, indicated Israel Ziv, the former head of operations in the Israeli occupation army.
Ziv told the Israeli Channel 12 that US President Joe Biden signaled to "Israel" that it will not receive American support "as it did on April 14," referring to Iran's attack against Israeli targets in occupied Palestine in response to the Israeli aggression that targeted its consulate in Syria.
From an operational standpoint, the former Israeli Major General estimated that the distance between Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories hinders US intervention to counter missiles launched from Lebanon, which allows only Israeli air defenses to intercept these launches.
Strategically, Ziv suggested that Biden views "Israel" entering a war with Hezbollah as very different from its war with "Hamas rockets in Gaza."
In a separate interview for a radio station affiliated with the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Ziv said that Hezbollah and its Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, take the US position seriously, adding, "For them [Hezbollah], the option of dragging Israel into a long war of attrition is a suitable option."
Israeli attack into Lebanon risks regional war: US general
Ziv's remarks come shortly after Air Force General Charles Q. Brown, the chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned that an Israeli wide-scale attack on Lebanon would risk an Iranian response, triggering a broader war that could put United States forces in the region in danger.
Brown told reporters in Botswana that the US would not likely be able to help "Israel" "defend itself" against a broader war with Hezbollah in Lebanon as well as it did in April.
He pointed to the potency of Hezbollah's short-range munitions, which would be harder to intercept due to multiple factors.
The general said that the US will continue to talk with Israeli leaders and warn them against widening the war in the region.
Brown's comments come as the Israeli political and military commands threaten war on Lebanon.
Israeli strikes on Lebanon have persisted and escalated in recent weeks, as the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah continues its operations in support of the Palestinian people who face an unprecedented genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
