'Wait for it': Iranian army chief warns 'Israel', vows a response
In response to the Israeli act of terror, high-ranking Iranian officials vowed to deliver a decisive and appropriate retaliation against the Zionist occupation.
"Wait for it," said Iranian Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, referring to the Islamic Republic's response to the Israeli occupation.
During a press conference on Monday, Major General Mousavi stated, "What our enemies claim is primarily rooted in psychological operations."
He emphasized that the Zionists are attempting to project an image of victory to their leaders and citizens in a bid to bolster Netanyahu's position but warned that they are rapidly heading toward destruction.
In reference to the Israeli assassination of martyred Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Mousavi stated that the blood of martyr Nasrallah would hasten the downfall of the Israeli regime and its leaders.
Iran will respond to the Israeli crimes
At his weekly press conference on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah.
"Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was martyred, but the school of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is alive, and we have no doubt that the Resistance Front and the people of Lebanon will celebrate the demise of the Zionists and the freedom of the holy al-Quds," Kanaani said.
"The American regime will not achieve any strategic achievements by the continuation of its disgraceful support of the Zionist regime," he stressed.
Iran is closely monitoring the developments in coordination with Lebanese authorities, Kanaani stated, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic will not allow any of the Zionist regime's aggressive actions to go unanswered. He also urged Islamic countries to provide serious support for the Palestinian people and to impose sanctions on the Zionist regime.
Kanaani noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian people are not seeking war, but they are trying to consolidate stability in the region, adding that Iran is set to take measures in the face of any adventurous action targeting national interests and security. His statement comes after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian underlined at a cabinet meeting on Sunday that the violations and crimes committed by the Israeli regime cannot go unanswered.
Touching on the martyrdom of Hezbollah's Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli assassination, Pezeshkian said that "such a crime once again proved that this criminal regime does not abide by any international standards and frameworks."
"The claims made by the heads of the US and EU countries, who promised a ceasefire in exchange for Iran's non-response to the assassination of Martyr [Ismail] Haniyeh, were all lies. Giving such criminals a chance will only embolden them to commit more crimes," he pointed out.
