Algeria's National Liberation Front wins most parliament seats
Despite its number of seats decreasing in Parliament in light of the boycott and severe political crisis, the Algerian National Liberation Front wins the most seats in Parliament.
The Algerian Independent National Electoral Authority announced Tuesday that the National Liberation Front, the ruling party in the outgoing Algerian parliament, won the most seats in the Algerian Legislative elections, despite its seats decreasing in light of election boycott and the severe political crisis in the country.
NLF, the only party previously, came out in first place with 105 seats out of 407, followed by the independents with 78 seats. The main Islamist party in the country, the Movement of Society for Peace, who previously announced that it was leading the elections, came in third place with 64 seats - Mohamad Charfi, the chairman of the National Independent Authority for Elections, announced Tuesday.
Charfi announced that the number of voters in the legislative elections of June 12, 2021, was less than six million, including about one million ballots that were canceled, which changes the final participation rate in the elections, something that Mohamad Charfi did not address in his press conference.
The voter turnout for the legislative elections of June 12, 2021, was 23.03%, announced Tuesday Charfi.
Parliament seats were arranged as the following:
National Liberation Front: 105 seats
Independents: 78 seats
Movement of Society for Peace: 64 seats
Democratic National Rally: 57 seats
Future Front: 48 seats
National Construction Movement: 40 seats
Minority parties took the remainder of the seats.
The leader for the Movement of Society for Peace in Algeria, Abderrazak Makri, had said two days ago that his party was "leading the results in the majority of states" and in departments outside the country designated for the community.
It extended its greetings and appreciation to the citizens who voted on her lists, inside and outside Algeria.
