Lawmakers urge Biden to revive Israeli partisan policy
73 Democratic lawmakers urge US President Joe Biden to take several actions against the "Trump administration's abandonment of America's long-standing, partisan policy" on Israeli-Palestinian relations.
73 Democratic lawmakers in the US House of Representatives, including in several leadership positions, wrote to President Joe Biden urging him to take several actions against the "Trump administration's abandonment of America's long-standing, partisan policy" on Israeli-Palestinian relations.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the letter called on Biden to consider Israeli settlements "illegal" and the West Bank "occupied," two things the administration of former President Donald Trump said it "would not do."
"It must be made clear that the United States considers settlements to be inconsistent with international law by reissuing relevant State Department and US Customs guidance to that effect," the letter said.
Last May, several US Democratic Representatives sent a letter to Biden, urging him to "postpone the delivery of a smart weapons deal to "Israel."
This message came to pressure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, members of the US House of Representatives declared that they were "horrified" by the violence executed by Israeli forces on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the continuation of violent attacks on the Palestinian people during the holy month of Ramadan.
