US Base in Syria Under Attack
The base of US troops located in the "Koniko" natural gas field in eastern Syria was under attack by mortar shells, while the perpetrators remain unidentified.
The Koniko natural gas field, used by the US military as a base in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria, was attacked with mortar shells.
"SANA", the Syrian news agency, stated that "the attack was carried out by unidentified perpetrators on the American base in Koniko."
A US military official confirmed that his country's forces in eastern Syria had been "indirectly attacked with firearms," ​​as he put it.
Last Thursday, a drone targeted a US base in the Al-Omar oil field in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, for the third time within days.
Prior to that, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the same US base in Al-Omar field had been hit by rocket-propelled grenades.
Al Mayadeen sources also reported last week, hearing 4 explosions of unknown origins inside an American base containing American, British and French soldiers on Syrian territory.
