Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman released a joint statement, affirming that they will "continue their efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to end the Yemeni crisis and alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people."

The statement also stressed the importance of cooperation on the "Iranian nuclear and missile file, dealing seriously and effectively with it, emphasizing the principles of good neighborliness and respect for UN resolutions and international legitimacy, and keeping the region away from all destabilizing activities."

The statement also praised the efforts of the “OPEC Plus” countries, under the leadership of Saudi Arabia and with the participation of the Sultanate of Oman, which led to "the stability and balance of oil markets," stressing the need to continue cooperation to support the stability of oil markets.

The two sides also announced their intention to increase the pace of economic cooperation between them.

The Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, visited Saudi Arabia yesterday, on Sunday; a first since he took charge of the country last year, accompanied by a large delegation of ministers and advisors, and he met King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The visit was preceded by an interview conducted by the Saudi newspaper, Asharq Al-Awsat, with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi. The newspaper quoted him as saying that his country will not be the third Gulf country, after the UAE and Bahrain, to sign a “peace agreement” with "Israel". Al-Busaidi also called for the return of Syria to the League of Arab States, stressing that Iran's role in Yemen is conducive to reaching a solution there and denying the existence of any Omani mediation to resolve the Yemeni crisis.
