Israeli media stressed that "Hezbollah claiming responsibility for the rocket fire from Lebanon speaks louder than the incident itself.”

Rockets were launched by the Israeli occupation into Lebanon on August 6, 2021 (AFP).

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah, fired dozens of rockets on Friday into an open field near Israeli posts in the occupied Shebaa Farms border area. The missiles were a response to the Israeli airstrikes on Thursday.

Commenting on the incident, the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” considered that “Friday morning’s rocket fire from Lebanon was unusual, but even more so given the claiming of responsibility.”

“The decision to launch rockets and the ensuing announcement is part of Hezbollah’s attempt to maintain a balance of deterrence with Israel. Hezbollah’s claim of responsibility for the rocket fire from Lebanon into Israel speaks louder than the incident itself,” the newspaper added.

Suggesting “Israel” was calibrated to avoid further escalation, the newspaper went on to say the “Israelis, like their political leadership, don’t want war”.

Moreover, the Israeli “Channel 12” stressed that “Israel is either deceiving itself when it says Hezbollah is deterred, or it is burying its head in the ground.”

Earlier, Israeli media revealed that “the Israeli projection in early 2021 was that Hezbollah would not initiate such a sudden response.”

Furthermore, Israeli media considered that the Israeli projection was wrong and an incorrect interpretation, adding that “Hezbollah’s firing of rockets is a strategic development.”

On his part, the Israeli Arab affairs expert Yoni Ben Menachem, tweeted: “Once again, the Israeli intelligence was shocked by Hezbollah’s response.”

He added, “Deterrence has eroded, and the situation requires a stark response against Hezbollah and Iran, yet nothing ever happens. What a shame!"

The Israeli rhetoric came after the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon announced that the brigades of the martyrs Ali Kamel Mohsen and Muhammad Qassem Tahan bombed the vicinity of the occupation military posts in the Shebaa Farms region in response to an Israeli attack on Lebanon.
