Husam Badran, head of Hamas's National Relations Office, stated that the outcomes of the negotiations are a direct result of the resilience of the people in Gaza and a unified national stance, adding that Hamas approached the Trump plan from a broad, consensus-driven Palestinian perspective.
Badran clarified that Hamas approached the Trump plan from an inclusive Palestinian national perspective that aims to unify the Palestinian stance against all challenges, noting that "the movement has been in contact with various factions and national figures to clarify the dangers and the necessity of formulating a common national position."
He added that the movement has held intensive meetings, communications, and an exchange of messages with various factions, leaders, and independent elites over recent days to unify the Palestinian national response to the plan and the subsequent stages, emphasizing that the final response, which was presented, was the result of these broad consultations.
National dialogue in Egypt solidifies Palestinian unity
Badran indicated that they continued with this approach throughout the negotiations in Sharm El-Sheik, highlighting Hamas's commitment to holding a comprehensive national dialogue in Cairo to review the agreement's details and the future plan, ensuring that everyone agrees on the next steps and phases.
The head of Hamas' National Relations Office affirmed that any Palestinian decision must express a unified stance and include all factions and national figures, adding that a unified position is the most powerful way to confront the occupation and achieve national aspirations.
Badran concluded by stating that "Palestinian consensus forms a solid foundation for confronting the occupation and achieving the legitimate rights of our people on their land and in their future state," and he affirmed that hope remains for the Palestinian people themselves to forge a free and just future with their own hands.
A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip entered into effect at noon local time today; however, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation forces resumed their bombardment of the Gaza Strip after the agreement had begun.
According to Israeli Channel 12, which cited sources within the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the ceasefire will only go into effect after the government officially ratifies it later this afternoon.
The early hours of October 8th-9th saw a pivotal development in the Gaza war, as Hamas announced a comprehensive agreement to end the Israeli aggression, withdraw forces, allow humanitarian aid, and conduct a prisoner exchange.
