Ukraine's President security advisor Oleksiy Arestovych

A security advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted his resignation on Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported.

Oleksiy Arestovych earlier published a video admitting that a Ukrainian air defense missile was responsible for changing the course of the Russian missile that struck a residential building in Dnipro and resulted in tens of civilian deaths.

Arestovych later apologized and retracted the statement.

According to the media outlets, whether his resignation was accepted or not is still unknown.

“I offer my sincere apologies to the victims and their relatives, the residents of Dnipro and everyone who was deeply hurt by my prematurely erroneous version of the reason for the Russian missile striking a residential building,” Arestovych wrote in a post on Facebook.

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov affirmed on Monday that the Russian military is not striking civilian buildings and infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, pointing out that the cause of the collapse of a residential building in the city of Dnipro was Kiev's interceptor missile.

"The Russian armed forces do not strike residential buildings or civilian infrastructure facilities, strikes are carried out against military targets," Peskov made clear.
