Israeli media reported on Wednesday that 14 members of the al-Qassam Brigades attempted a resistance operation to capture an Israeli soldier in Rafah, targeting an Israeli occupation force and wounding several soldiers.
The incident resulted in no reported fatalities, and two soldiers were injured and transported to the hospital by helicopter.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Gaza confirmed that the resistance targeted an Israeli force near the Morag axis in Rafah. Field sources indicated that helicopters landed in the area to evacuate casualties from the targeted site.
The occupation acknowledged that helicopter evacuations were conducted from the Gaza Strip to Israeli hospitals to provide urgent medical care for the wounded soldiers.
Al-Quds destroy Israeli vehicles, target soldiers
Military confrontations between Al-Qassam Brigades and Israeli occupation forces continue across Gaza, with resistance fighters frequently attempting to capture soldiers, particularly in border areas such as Rafah.
Hamas maintains that such operations are a direct response to ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Meanwhile, the occupation has reinforced its forces along the border and relies on emergency helicopter evacuations to transport casualties during confrontations.
In a related event, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that it destroyed an Israeli military vehicle last Sunday by detonating a highly explosive penetrative device that had been planted in advance near the al-Nujoom Hall in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
The group reported a second similar operation carried out on Monday, targeting another Israeli vehicle with the same device in the al-Musallaba area of al-Zaytoun.
Following the detonation in al-Musallaba, the al-Quds fighters observed the Israeli soldiers' evacuation operations in the area, indicating that the strike had inflicted direct damage.
The resistance faction also confirmed that its fighters launched strikes against occupation troop gatherings and a command post, underscoring its ongoing engagement in confronting Israeli forces within Gaza.
