Al-Qassam praises martyred IRGC commander role in building Resistance

The Palestinian Resistance group says that the IRGC general assassinated by Israelis played a significant role over long years in preparing the Resistance to fight the occupation entity.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, praised the significant role of the martyred commander of the IRGC's Quds Force in Lebanon and Syria in building the Resistance and preparing it to fight the Israeli occupation over the span of many years.

Brigadier General martyr Mohammad Reza Zahedi was assassinated by "Israel" on Monday in a strike targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus, along with several of his senior companions.

Al-Qassam also hailed his prominent role in the al-Aqsa Flood operation and mourned his martyrdom and that of his brothers to the Arab and Islamic Nation.

Hamas condemned on Monday the blatant Israeli escalation, affirming that this aggression is a flagrant violation of international law and an attack on the sovereignty of Syria and Iran.

The Resistance group expressed "full solidarity with Iran and Syria in the face of this heinous Nazi aggression" and called on the United Nations Security Council to "take effective action to deter the occupation and its criminal leaders and to stop their aggression" against Gaza and the region.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ) also condemned the Israeli crime, and considered it to be an attempt "to expand aggression and divert attention from their failure in Gaza."

Being one of the most prominent leaders of the Quds Force, Martyr Zahedi was the Deputy Chief of IRGC operations. He also took positions as the leader of both the IRGC's Air Force from 2005 to 2006 and the Ground Force from 2006 to 2008.

The Israeli occupation has assassinated a number of IRGC advisors and personnel in Syria, following the outbreak of its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. The IRGC has been a long-term supporter of the Palestinian Resistance and other liberation movements in the region.

The Islamic Republic held both the United States and the Israeli occupation responsible for the crime, and had vowed to avenge the assassination of its senior officials and that illegal attack on its consulate.
