Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement, announced that it had launched a rocket barrage targeting the city settlement of Sderot and the settlements of Nir Am and Kfar Aza, on Wednesday.
Israeli media reported that sirens sounded in the settlements in the Gaza Envelope, including Sderot, Ivim, Nir Am, and Kfar Aza.
Additionally, Israeli media indicated that two rockets fired from Gaza toward these settlements were intercepted.
The rocket launches came after the Israeli regime announced that it would expand its aggression on the Gaza Strip, seeking to occupy additional territories.
Troops will advance to clear territories "and capture extensive territory that will be added to the State of Israel’s security areas," The Times of Israel cited Israel Katz, the Israeli Security Minister.
The announcement followed an intense bombardment of various areas in the Gaza Strip with the goal of facilitating a ground invasion. According to Israeli media outlets, Israeli occupation forces look to surround the city of Rafah, splitting it from Khan Younis.
The stated objective is to add pressure on the Palestinian Resistance to release captives it has held since October 7, 2023.
