Al-Sadr: President’s refusal to sign anti-normalization law shameful
The leader of Iraq's Sadrist movement Muqtada Al-Sadr denounces the Iraqi president's decision to not sign the recent anti-normalization bill.
The leader of Iraq's Sadrist movement Muqtada Al-Sadr stated Tuesday that “it is shameful that the President of the Republic refuses to sign the law criminalizing normalization with Israel”.
Al-Sadr added in a tweet: “It is shameful to have a normalizing, unpatriotic president who is affiliated with either the West or the East”.
The Council of Representatives of Iraq voted unanimously in May on a law criminalizing the normalization of the Israeli occupation.
The Act aims to preserve Iraq's “national, Islamic and humanitarian principles, given the danger of normalization with the occupied Zionist entity.”
