Algerian FM calls for revoking 'Israel' UN membership
The Algerian Foreign Minister condemned the occupation's 'day after' plan and called for an 'independent Palestinian state.'
Algeria has called for a resolution to sanction the Israeli occupation by annulling its membership in the United Nations.
As per the statement released by the Algerian Foreign Ministry, during the 161st ministerial level session of the Arab League Council in Cairo, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmad Attaf, has called today for a movement in front of the General Assembly of the United Nations to pressure the latter on revoking "Israel's" membership.
Attaf stated that this action will be “inspired by the historical measures taken by the United Nations, towards the apartheid regime in South Africa, until the day of its disappearance.”
He further urged Algeria to take all necessary measures to push for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.
He stressed that the only future for Gaza is one within an "independent Palestinian state" based on the 1967 territories with al-Quds as its capital urging the condemnation of the Israeli "day after" plan emphasizing that Gaza will not be tailored to the wills of the occupation.
Attaf directed his words at the Israeli occupation highlighting that it has "no veto" regarding the "establishment of a Palestinian State" and that international legitimacy promotes and protects the latter.
Raisi and Tebboune: To expand relations, hold "Israel" accountable
On March 3, high-ranking delegations from Iran and Algeria met in Algiers, led by Raisi and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
During the meeting, Tebboune and Raisi discussed the regional situation, particularly the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, its humanitarian consequences, and its repercussions on security and peace in the Middle East. It was also agreed to intensify coordination and consultation on the Palestinian issue.
The two parties also touched on bilateral relations between their countries and reviewed the most important developments in the African Sahel region and the Western Sahara issue, in addition to signing cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding in many economic, cultural, and technological fields.
Raisi recognized Algeria as a leader in the battle against hegemony and colonialism, hoping that his visit would serve as a watershed moment, ushering in a new era of bilateral commercial and economic cooperation.
