Algerian parliament speaker reiterates support for Palestinian cause
The head of the Algerian National People's Assembly stresses the need for the Palestinian cause to be prioritized as some other international issues, in a meeting with Hamas.
The head of the Algerian National People's Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, reaffirmed on Sunday the centrality of the Palestinian cause, explaining that defending it is a duty that falls on the shoulders of all parliamentarians in various regional and international forums.
During his meeting with a Hamas delegation headed by Zaher Jabarin, Boughali stressed the need for the Palestinian cause to be prioritized as some other international issues, denouncing the policy of double standards.
On his part, Jabarin hailed the outcomes of the reunification conference for the sake of Palestinian national unity, stressing that the movement is keen on the success of the Algeria Declaration that resulted from this initiative and took all measures to implement it.
The meeting constituted an opportunity for the Palestinian delegation to request Algeria's assistance with regard to raising the issue of Palestinian prisoners' rights before international and regional human rights and humanitarian organizations.
It is noteworthy that on October 12, Al Mayadeen correspondent in Algeria reported that the delegations of the Palestinian factions in Algeria have arrived at a reconciliation agreement, adding that the Algeria Declaration stresses the importance of Palestinian national unity and considers it a basis for steadfastness and resistance to achieving the goals of the Palestinian people.
Algeria invited 14 Palestinian factions to attend the conference for a national dialogue on October 11 and 12 in Algiers. That came after Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune had stressed that "Palestine is the core issue" for his country, pointing out that there is no "Algerian boy or elderly who does not support Palestine."
In a related context, the closing statement of the Arab summit that was held in Algeria's capital, Algiers, in early November, affirmed the countries' rejection of all forms of foreign interference in their internal affairs, stressing support for the Palestinian cause.
