Amir-Abdollahian arrives in Beirut
Al Mayadeen correspondent confirms the arrival of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to Beirut on a visit that will include meetings with several Lebanese officials.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran will always "support Lebanon’s army, people, and resistance with a strong voice.” Lebanese President Michel Aoun received Amir-Abdollahian at Baabda Palace.
In a press conference upon his arrival at Beirut Airport on Thursday, he stressed that Lebanon will be able to overcome all the difficulties it is suffering from and that Iran will "powerfully" stand by its allies in the region.
Referring to recent fuel sales to Lebanon that broke the US siege, he mentioned that Tehran is ready to help and has "better new offers" for the country if needed, saying that the visit is "indicative of deep and friendly ties between the two countries."
Iran's support for Lebanon
The top Iranian diplomat added that Iranian companies are ready to build two electric power plants for Lebanon in only 18 months, expressing Iran's readiness to rebuild the port of Beirut, if Lebanon requests so.
Amir-Abdollahian affirmed they agreed on convening the Lebanese-Iranian Economic Committee, noting that Iran is fully prepared to assist Lebanon at all levels.
In a related context, Al Mayadeen correspondent revealed on Wednesday that the Iranian Minister announced his readiness to visit Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, to enhance ties between the two countries, inviting his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Tehran.
