Bahraini ambassador to Russia confirms Gaza humanitarian aid increase
The ambassador relays Bahrain's position of support for an immediate humanitarian truce before a ceasefire, the protection of civilians on both sides, and facilitation of supplies of medicine, food, water, fuel, and electricity to the residents of Gaza under international humanitarian law.
Bahraini Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati told Sputnik that Bahrain is preparing to increase its humanitarian aid to Gaza and partake in development projects in the Gaza reconstruction process.
"The situation is very, very bad. We are already helping the Palestinians and we will increase our help to them", he said as he listed those involved in the aid process.
"The Royal Humanitarian Foundation and the Bahrain National Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People in Gaza, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty the King, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative His Majesty the King for Humanitarian and Youth Affairs" are all contributing.
Al-Saati added that they "will deliver eighty tons of medical, food, and relief materials in two shipments through the Rafah crossing and will build a field hospital and a residential complex, and implement other development projects within the framework of the Gaza reconstruction process".
He relayed Bahrain's position which included support for an immediate humanitarian truce before a ceasefire, the protection of civilians on both sides, and facilitation of supplies of medicine, food, water, fuel, and electricity to the residents of Gaza under international humanitarian law.
So-called 'two-states'
He further stressed that the only solution after the cessation of hostilities is for both sides to negotiate a settlement providing each with its own independent state in accordance with the UN-backed so-called "two-state solution".

"The Kingdom of Bahrain is continuing its diplomatic and humanitarian efforts in coordination with the international community towards... creating a safe atmosphere to revive the just and comprehensive peace process, in a way that fulfills the right of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent state, in accordance with the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions, as a strategic option to achieve security, prosperity, and peaceful coexistence among all the peoples of the Middle East region," Al Saati noted.
He continued to confirm that the economic ties had been severed between both "Israel" and Bahrain and that ambassadors of both have been recalled.
During the Cairo Peace Summit earlier last month, the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said that ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people is essential for achieving stability in the Middle East.
"There will be no stability in the Middle East without ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people," the King stressed.
The official Bahraini positions come as a result of the continuation of popular demonstrations in the country and the continuing demands of the Bahraini people to expel the Israeli ambassador from Manama and to sever relations with the occupying entity.
