Ban for waving Palestine flag suits 'authoritarian regime': French MP

French left-wing lawmaker Sebastien Delogu described Thursday the 15-day suspension imposed by the country's parliament over his brandishing of the Palestinian flag inside the premises as "worthy of an authoritarian regime."
Delogu, a member of parliament for the France Unbowed (LFI) party, stood up with the flag during questions to the government.
Parliament speaker Yael Braun-Pivet denounced what she called unacceptable behavior, and lawmakers voted to suspend Delogu for two weeks and cut his parliamentary allowance by half for two months.
"The voices of peace are subject to bans, summons and violence from a dying power," Delogu wrote on his account on X, adding, "The France of the accomplices of the genocide is not ours!"

Delogu then left the lower chamber making a V-sign for victory, as right-wing and centrist lawmakers inside applauded the sanctions against him.
