Belarus President says saboteurs on border with Ukraine detained
The Belarusian President states that these saboteurs crossed from Ukraine attempting to commit sabotage in both Russia and Belarus.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated today that Belarusian security forces have detained saboteurs on the border with Ukraine moving explosives for disruption on the territory of Belarus and Russia.
Belta state news agency quoted the President as saying, "Just today, several saboteurs have been detained on the Ukrainian border. With the help of drones, some of the Ukrainian citizens crossed through our border, and transported explosives to commit sabotage, primarily on the territory of Russia and Belarus."
He further added that they had all been arrested and that there were Belarusians among them..
"The counterterrorist operation has just ended," Lukashenko concluded.
A high-speed railway line from Moscow to Minsk
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is in favor of building a high-speed railway line to Minsk.
Earlier in the day, Putin held a meeting discussing the development of high-speed rail in Russia. He stated that the construction of a high-speed railway linking Moscow to St. Petersburg marks just the initial phase of rail transport in the country.
According to the Russian news website FedPress, the Russian leader paid a visit to the Ural Railway Engineering Plant in the suburb of Yekaterinburg where he suggested that the production of high-speed trains could be established at the Ural enterprise.
He also stated that the construction of a high-speed railway linking Moscow to Ryazan, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Adler, and Minsk was feasible. On his part, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko supported the idea of building a railway connecting Moscow to Minsk.
