Bennett: Gantz and Abbas discussed security and economy, not politics
The Israeli Prime Minister says the meeting between Gantz and Abbass took place with his full approval.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett commented on the meeting that occurred between Israeli Security Minister Benny Gantz and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas last Tuesday.
During a press conference on Sunday, Bennett revealed that the meeting occurred with his full approval, detailing that Benny Gantz received permission before hosting the meeting, affirming that he saw no reason to deny the request.
Bennett added that the meeting between Gantz and Abbas was within the framework of security and economy, and not politics, adding that he has no intention to meet with the Palestinian Authority President.
Palestinian resistance factions have denounced the meeting between Gantz and Abbas, describing it as a "deplorable act rejected by all patriots and a deviation from the national spirit of the Palestinian people."
Earlier, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the meeting between Abbas and Gantz took place at the latter's house and lasted two and a half hours.
For its part, Israeli media mentioned that Gantz affirmed to Abbas "the common interest in strengthening security coordination and maintaining security and stability."
It is noteworthy that this is the second meeting between the two, following a meeting that took place in Ramallah in August.
