President Joe Biden's campaign advisors are encouraging him to steer clear of discussing his own policy record, CNN reported on Tuesday, citing sources.

Instead, they want him to concentrate on mounting an offensive against former President Donald Trump during this week's inaugural presidential debate.

The broadcaster is set to host the first presidential debate between Biden and Trump on Thursday at 9 pm Eastern Time. The event will run for 90 minutes.

According to sources briefed by CNN, advisors are apprehensive that Biden's attempts to showcase his own policy accomplishments are failing to strike a chord with voters.

Biden's advisors are recommending that the president adopt an aggressive stance by confronting Trump on economic matters, particularly his alleged close relationships with corporate America and the potentially inflationary impact of his policy proposals, as reported.

US political violence has, in fact, become the world's top threat, according to consulting firm Eurasia Group’s founder and president, Ian Bremmer, during Bloomberg's podcast, In the City.

He said that right now is a “horrible time for an election” in the US, noting that political violence has soared after former President Donald Trump’s criminal conviction last week.

"Unprecedented things are happening in US politics on a weekly basis, and Americans are normalizing those things. You’re just getting used to it. It’s the frog in the boiling pot. This is not a sign of a stable democracy."

The ongoing border security dispute between Republicans and Democrats has particularly been a matter of serious contention. Tensions erupted after the Supreme Court's decision to permit federal border patrol agents to dismantle physical barriers erected by Texas.
