Biden's classified documents probe: No charges yet, only criticism
The US Attorney General revealed yesterday that the investigation into Biden's possession of classified documents has concluded.
The US Attorney General informed Congress yesterday that the special counsel investigating the claim of Biden mishandling classified documents has finished his inquiry, however, they did not specify the outcome of the the latter.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed special counsel Robert Hur last year amid the discovery of classified material at Biden's residence in Delaware and in a former office during his time as vice president in 2022.
On Tuesday, a Washington Post article revealed that the investigation's report disapproves of the way Biden and his aides handled the documents but did not hit on any criminal charges.
They added that Biden's aides claimed the documents unintentionally ended up at his home and office because of "sloppy staff work."
AFP yesterday stated that in a letter to members of Congress, Garland said Hur handed him his report on Monday and the White House is still reviewing the latter.
"I am committed to making as much of the Special Counsel's report public as possible," Garland affirmed adding that he believes Hur conducted the investigation adequately.
A presidential trend
Former president Donald Trump is also currently facing charges involving the mishandling of classified documents.
Special counsel Jack Smith accused Trump of "endangering national security" by keeping top secret nuclear and defense information after exiting the White House.
The number of documents involved in the Biden case was almost a dozen, as known so far, and those by Trump were found to be in the hundreds.
Trump was also accused of seeking to mislead investigators.
