China and Russia have expressed strong condemnation of "Israel's" actions against Iran, denouncing them as an aggressive move that infringes upon the Islamic Republic's sovereignty and undermines its territorial integrity.
The foreign ministers of China and Russia held separate phone calls with their Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Saturday, strongly condemning "Israel's" military actions as unprovoked airstrikes that violated Iran's sovereignty, a day after the attacks were launched.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned "Israel's" strikes on nuclear facilities, labeling them "a dangerous act" that disregards established international norms. Wang further stated that Beijing had denounced the aggression during discussions at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), while also urging the UN Security Council to take immediate action to halt the conflict.
The Chinese Minister emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate tensions in West Asia to avoid the outbreak of a full-scale conflict, while also noting Iran's consistent position that its nuclear activities are solely intended for peaceful civilian use.
In response, Araghchi expressed Iran's appreciation for China's firm position in denouncing "Israel's" attack, while cautioning that such aggression risks plunging the region into what he described as "a dangerous cycle of violence" with escalating consequences.
Araghchi further emphasized that the attack represents a blatant breach of international legal norms, urging the global community to respond with decisive action and issue an unequivocal condemnation of the aggression while stressing the need for collective measures to prevent further escalation.
"In order to protect its national sovereignty, the people and security, Iran has firmly responded to the aggression of the Zionist regime and is determined to use its legitimate right to reciprocal action," the Iranian Foreign Minister said.
During his talk with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Araghchi expressed gratitude for Moscow's firm position in denouncing "Israel's" aggressive actions, characterizing "Israel's" actions as further evidence of its hostility towards diplomacy.
Iran rejects nuclear talks amid US backing of 'Israel': Araghchi
Earlier today, Araghchi, during a series of international communications, stressed that the Israeli aggression against Iran represents a clear breach of international law and undermines the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Araghchi emphasized that Iran reserves the legitimate right to respond decisively to the aggression, urging the international community to denounce the attack and ensure accountability for Israel's actions.
During a conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas, the Iranian FM argued that continuing indirect negotiations with the US is unreasonable in light of "Israel's" ongoing brutal aggression, especially considering Washington's direct backing of the offensive.
Iran's ambassador to the United Nations echoed these sentiments in a Security Council session, pointing out that "Israel's" attack on Iran seeks to derail nuclear negotiations, disrupt diplomatic progress, and escalate tensions in the region into a wider conflict. He also accused the United States of complicity through its support and enablement of such actions, with Iravani asserting that Washington "shares responsibility" for the consequences.
