top marketing officer resigned on Tuesday after an inquiry revealed she had broken the company's regulations, according to Warner Media.
Allison Gollust, CNN's top marketing officer, resigned on Tuesday after an inquiry revealed she had broken the company's regulations, according to WarnerMedia. The news comes nearly two weeks after the resignation of CEO Jeff Zucker.
Zucker shocked the world of media when he announced his resignation from CNN, which he'd been leading since 2013. The resignation was due to an undisclosed romantic relationship with Allison Gollust, the chief marketing officer for CNN.
In a statement to CBS News, WarnerMedia claimed that a third-party review completed in the weekend found that Zucker, Gollust, and former "Cuomo Prime Time" presenter Chris Cuomo breached company standards, including CNN's News Standards and Practices. The corporation did not clarify which policies were breached by the former workers.
Cuomo was dismissed in December attempting to help his brother former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo fight the allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
Before joining CNN, Gollust was the communications director for Andrew Cuomo, according to the network.
In a statement on Tuesday, WarnerMedia said "We have the highest standards of journalistic integrity at CNN, and those rules apply to everyone equally."
The investigation began in September involving an independent law firm and interviews with 40 persons and an examination of over 100,000 messages and emails.
Gollust accused WarnerMedia of changing the media narrative regarding her departure "in the wake of their disastrous handling of the last two weeks."
In an interview with CBS, she expressed she was deeply disappointed "that after spending the past nine years defending and upholding CNN's highest standards of journalistic integrity, I would be treated this way as I leave."
Zucker shocked the world of media when he announced his resignation from CNN, which he'd been leading since 2013. The resignation was due to an undisclosed romantic relationship with Gollust.
"I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began and I didn't. I was wrong. As a result, I am resigning today," he said.
