Condition to regional stability is Palestinian statehood: Iraqi Pres.
The Iraqi President has underlined the responsibility of the international community in furthering the rights of Palestinians.
Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid stressed that there would be no stability in the region without "completely ending the plight of the Palestinian people and [granting them] their deserved rights in their own state on their nation's soil."
Rashid made the remarks during an address to the attendees of the Sixth Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, in which he stressed that "now" is the most appropriate time for the international community to further the aforementioned goal.
"Among the responsibilities of the International community is working with a real and effective determination to end the plight [of Palestinians] and stopping the hideous crimes that are being committed against the Palestinian people," Rashid underlined.
The Iraqi President's comments are in parallel to a 140-day ongoing war launched by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip, which coincides with a wide-scale and near-daily detainment campaign defined by brutality, launched by the Israeli regime in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip pushed factions in the Axis of Resistance, in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria to take action in support of Palestine, highlighting the inseparable ties that the Arab and Islamic Ummahs hold with Palestine and its people.
In Iraq, an umbrella group under which multiple Resistance factions operate, known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, launched dozens of operations against US and Israeli military assets in the region.
On an official level, Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammad Shia al-Sudani, has reiterated on multiple occasions his government's support for the rights of Palestinians, offering to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip and rejecting plots to forcibly displace Palestinians to Egypt.
In the context of the unfolding situation stemming from the Iraqi Resistance's strikes against US forces in the region, the Iraqi Prime Minister has also recently announced that his country had requested the US-led international coalition against ISIS to end its 10-year-long mission in Iraq, emphasizing the effectiveness and capabilities of the Iraqi security services, on February 16.
However, no clear date or format for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq has been set.
